Singer/songwriter Mary-Ann Parer creates music that explores themes of love, freedom, identity, and healing through deeply personal and authentically penned lyrics and soulful melodies designed to take listeners on transformative journeys.
Born to a teenage mother and placed for adoption at two weeks old, Mary-Ann was raised by a loving Australian family in the country. Her early exposure to different cultures began when her family moved to the USA for two years shortly after her adoption, sparking a passion for travel and cultural exploration as she was always fascinated with different cultures and longed to know of her own cultural background. At 24 years old, she met her biological mother , an English immigrant and later of her fathers heritage, as a Polish immigrant. A transformative overseas trip in her twenties led to a genuine faith experience that redirected her life path and began the pursuit of knowing her true identity in Christ. After completing Primary Teaching,. Mary-Ann pursued Bible College and completed a 2-year Diploma of Creative ministries in Theology, Worship Leadership, songwriting, and recording . Later in life, she met her husband, and together they have faced challenges, including infertility, physical and spiritual healing which deepened her spiritual journey.
Mary-Ann's music is influenced by Whitney Houston, Norah Jones, Joss Stone and Lauren Daigle. She trained as a contemporary vocalist and classical pianist after having completed K-12 Music Teaching and later a Diploma in worship, songwriting and minstry.
Her sound blends fresh contemporary pop, gospel and soft rock ballads with rich vocal and orchestral arrangements.
Mary-Ann's compositions are born from personal experiences of grief, healing, and overcoming fear and rejection. Having witnessedthe power of miraculous cancer healings—including her own mother's recovery from Stage 4 tongue and throat cancer—she writes from a place of profound gratitude and belief in the transformational power and healing of Jesus.
